Keeping learners engaged is an oft-heard challenge among eLearning professionals. Learners in a classroom are often a captive audience; online they can be gone in an instant. What can we do to ensure that our learners are fully engaged in our eLearning programs, are learning, and are staying there through to completion? eLearning does not have to be boring! We can move beyond the tell-and-test syndrome and create learning environments that are compelling, immersive and fully engaging. We can do this by encouraging an active learning approach, otherwise known as learning-by-doing.
