Description:
Every eLearning development project needs subject matter expertise. However, you have to find a way to efficiently extract and translate that expertise so that it is effectively integrated into an online course or job aid. The challenge is in getting from Point A (the expert's head) to Point B (a training intervention or aid that will help learners achieve certain goals). There are a lot of curves and potholes that must be navigated along the way.

Subject matter experts (SMEs) are typically time-starved and your particular concerns around creating an effective eLearning intervention, in a timely fashion, are not necessarily their prime concerns. Also, they may know their subject area intimately - whether this be how to make something, how a particular process works, how to sell something, etc. - but that does not necessarily mean that they know how to effectively teach this expertise. Because of this, SMEs are often, unintentially, the bottlenecks in the eLearning development process, either because they don't get you what you need, or because they do not know exactly what you need or how you will use it.

This webinar will focus on strategies for getting what you need from SMEs without holding up the development schedule, while at the same time creating much more directed and engaging eLearning.

Presenters: Rick Nigol, Co-founder and Director of Education, and Michael Grant, Co-founder and Director of Research, eLearn Campus
